China's new leaders to keep faith in clean energy, analysts say

China’s incoming leaders are set to maintain strong support for the renewable energy industry and may even set more ambitious targets, say analysts.

China’s Communist Party is expected to appoint Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang as top Politburo Standing Committee members after its annual meeting closes this week, putting them in place to take over as the country’s new President and Premier at the National People’s Congress in March next year.

While all seven members of the Standing Committee participate in decision-making in China, Li will have a major influence on the country’s energy policy in the next few years, say analysts at Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).
