Wind delivers in Q4 as Siemens plans $7.6bn of cost savings

Siemens’ Wind Power division delivered strong growth but warned of “challenging” times ahead, as the German industrial giant announced plans for group-wide savings of €6bn ($7.6bn) over two years.

Wind Power revenue increased by 35% as it delivered on turbine orders from its backlog, providing one of the bright spots for the wider Siemens Energy sector in its financial fourth quarter.

The company says all three of the unit’s regions delivered growth, helping Wind Power to a €134m Q4 profit.

The profit came despite the higher R&D and marketing costs associated with a growing business, Siemens adds.
