NextEra Q3 income up, sees adding record 2012 wind capacity

NextEra Energy, the largest US renewable energy generator, reports third quarter net income of $415m, or $0.98 per share, versus $407m, or $0.97 per share, a year earlier.

Operating revenue fell 12% to $3.84 billion. The company’s two main components are Florida Power & Light, the state’s largest rate-regulated electric utility, and NextEra Energy Resources, the competitive energy business that includes the country’s largest wind and solar capacity.

In the third quarter, NextEra added 80MW of wind capacity to its portfolio in the US and Canada, bringing 2012 additions to 250MW through September. It expects to add more than 1.2GW capacity in the fourth quarter, bringing 2012 installations to 1.5GW, the most ever in a calendar year by a US…
