Republicans push 'No More Solyndras Act' through US House

Using their majority, Republicans secured passage of a bill in the US House of Representatives that would phase out a controversial Energy Department (DOE) programme that guaranteed a $535m loan to the now-bankrupt thin-film PV manufacturer Solyndra.

The “No More Solyndras Act” was approved by a 245-161 margin with only four Republicans voting against it, while 22 Democrats did so.

Republicans have a 242-193 majority in the House. Not all lawmakers in both parties were present for the vote. The bill now goes to the Senate where Democrats, who hold a thin majority, are unlikely to act on it.
