Upbeat Statkraft hails its offshore wind era at Sheringham Shoal

Norwegian utility Statkraft claims it is poised to reap the rewards of a transition to renewables as it prepares to cut the ribbon at its Sheringham Shoal offshore wind farm in the UK.

Statkraft and partner Statoil will officially open the 317MW Sheringham Shoal off eastern England on 27 September, with the former describing it as a “milestone” in the evolution of a business that it expects to form a cornerstone of its future strategy.

An upbeat Statkraft says: “The transition to renewable energy in Europe has gained momentum. 2012 is shaping up to be the best year so far for development of wind power, both offshore and onshore.”
