Australia's opposition confirms plans to repeal carbon tax

Australia’s opposition has confirmed plans to repeal the ruling Labor government’s carbon tax and abolish A$10bn of government-supported funding for renewable energy if it wins the next election.

“You have heard it many times before, but I won’t leave here today without restating that the Coalition will repeal the carbon tax, not least because it will be one of the most significant burdens on household electricity bills,” shadow energy minister Ian Macfarlane told the Clean Energy Council’s annual conference in Sydney.
