Texas Republican lawmaker backs 10-year PTC renewal

US Representative Mac Thornberry, a Texas Republican, is supporting a 10-year extension of the wind production tax credit (PTC) as part of broader legislation to promote development of all forms of domestic energy resources.

The tax credit, worth $22/MWh, inflation-adjusted for a project’s first decade in operation, expires on 31 December.

Thornberry , whose sprawling district includes the cities of Amarillo and Wichita Falls, last year introduced a bill to achieve that goal in the 435-seat House of Representatives called the “No More Excuses Energy Act of 2011.” It had four co-sponsors including US Representative Michael Burgess, also a Republican, whose North Texas district includes Fort Worth.
