UK government looks at PPA terms for renewable generators

The UK government is looking into the barriers that face independent renewable energy generators as they try to secure power purchase agreements (PPAs).

The Department of Energy and Climate Chance (DECC) has invited the industry to comment on the issue, amid fears that the contracts on offer are becoming less attractive.

“Some generators are reporting a decline in the terms they are being offered for these PPAs, which could potentially lead to a decline in investment in renewables,” says the DECC, which wants to boost competition in the market for PPAs.
