The

goal
is

latest
in
a
series
of
upward
revisions
that
officials
have
apparently
deemed
necessary
to
the
solar
target
under
China’s
12th
five-year
plan
for
renewable
energy.
The
five-year
plan
remains
unpublished
–
despite
the
fact
that
the
targeted
period
(2011-2015)
is
already
underway
–
but
the
solar
capacity
ambition
has
been
widely
discussed.
China
had
originally
aimed
for
5GW
of
solar
by
2015,
but
officials
are
understood
to
have
proposed
a
revision
to
15GW
in
recent
months
as
lower
equipment
prices
make
PV
more
attractive.
