Invenergy secures $444m to build 200MW Illinois wind farm

The project will use GE's 1.6MW wind turbines

Developer Invenergy has secured $444m of finance to build its 200MW California Ridge wind farm in the US state of Illinois.

The finance package was put together by Santander and Prudential. It consists of a mixture of bank and longer-term institutional finance.

Santander and Prudential put together a similar hybrid package for a 127MW solar plant in Arizona earlier this year.

"The innovative hybrid structure takes advantage of the short-term flexibility of the banks and the long-duration appetite of the institutional market," says Ric Abel, managing director of Prudential Capital's energy finance group.
