UK's Lincs offshore wind farm nails $662m project finance

Der Windpark mit einer installierten Gesamtleistung von 110 Megawatt (MW) wird vom schwedischen Energieversorger Vattenfall betrieben und wurde im Juni 2008 offiziell in Betrieb genommen. For the Lillgrund project Siemens installed 48 SWT-2.3-93 wind power systems each rated at 2.3 megawatts (MW). The wind farm with a total installed capacity of 110 MW is operated by the Swedish utility Vattenfall and officially came on line in June 2008. The Lillgrund offshore wind farm produces enough electrcity to supply 60,000 Swedish households.

Siemens is supplying turbines and handling connection to the onshore grid.

The venture building the 270MW Lincs offshore wind farm in the UK has nailed down £425m ($662m) of project finance from a consortium of 10 banks.

Lincs Wind Farm – a joint venture between UK utility Centrica, which owns 50%, Denmark’s Dong Energy and Siemens Project Ventures – has been on the hunt for finance since last August.

The institutions providing non-recourse project finance facilities for Lincs are: Abbey National Treasury Services (trading as Santander Global Banking & Markets); BNP Paribas; Nordea Bank; Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken; Unicredit Bank; DNB Bank; HSBC; KfW IPEX-Bank; Lloyds TSB; and The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.
