Siemens moves transmission boss ahead of 'profit hit'

The wind farm with a total installed capacity of 110 MW is operated by the Swedish utility Vattenfall and officially came on line in June 2008. The Lillgrund offshore wind farm produces enough electrcity to supply 60,000 Swedish households.

Siemens has announced a new boss for its Power Transmission division on the eve of financial results that reports claim will deliver more bad news from its offshore wind grid-connection operations.

In a move predicted by some in the German media, Udo Niehage will step down as chief executive at Power Transmission for a new job at Siemens’ government relations team in Berlin.

The German industrial giant has been tipped to announce one-off charges of about €200m ($264m) relating to delays to its German offshore wind grid-connection projects when it unveils its second-quarter financials tomorrow. It suffered €203m of such charges in the first quarter.
