Origin Energy ditches 40-turbine South Australia wind farm

Australia’s Origin Energy is abandoning a proposed 40-turbine wind farm in South Australia (SA), saying the investment case was not strong enough to proceed.

The company had planned to locate the wind farm on an 8km strip of farmland near the SA town of Crystal Brook, about 200km from state capital Adelaide.

"This decision is consistent with the company’s strategy to focus on a targeted number of development projects that are well advanced and best placed to deliver an efficient, reliable and affordable energy supply for customers, while ensuring an appropriate return on investment for the company’s shareholders,” a company spokesperson says.
