energy
generation
through
his
2009
economic
stimulus
bill.
Department
of
Energy
loans
back
some
40
clean
energy
projects,
while
Treasury
cash
grants
contributed
needed
financing
to
thousands
of
others.
Both
programs
came
to
an
end
last
year.
These
effort
along
with
state
renewables
mandates
have
helped
boost
US
wind,
solar
and
geothermal
generation
from
72.6TWh
in
2008
to
140.8TWh
last
year,
according
to
data
from
the
US
Energy
Information
Administration.
Energy
generation
from
those
sources
is
forecast
to
reach
159.6TWh…
