EDPR boosts income and profits as capacity reaches 7.5GW

Portuguese renewables giant EDPR saw profits and revenues rise in 2011 on the back of a 12% capacity addition to its increasingly global generation base.

EDPR – the world’s third-largest producer of wind power – delivered a net profit of €89m ($119.6m) last year, a 10% increase on 2010’s figure.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) were 12% ahead at €801m.

EDPR’s revenues increased 13% in 2011 to €1.07bn. The company says this was driven by a 17% year-on-year boost to power output, which reached 16.8TWh from an installed capacity that grew by 806MW to 7.48GW.

The capacity figure, which includes its interest in the Eólicas de Portugal consortium, spans eight nations.
