Early ruling finds US wind tower firms hurt by Asian imports

In a preliminary ruling, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) has found that American utility-scale wind tower manufacturers are being hurt by lower-cost imports from China and Vietnam.

The move means the Commerce Department will continue its investigation that was prompted by a complaint filed in December by the Wind Tower Trade Coalition, whose four members are Broadwind Energy, DMI Industries, Katana Summit and Trinity Structural Towers.

The group is asking the US government to impose anti-dumping duties to compensate for what it alleges are use of unfair pricing practices to capture sales for towers used to support turbines with more than a 100kW power rating.
