Gehrlicher and Merk Solar Enerji form Turkey joint venture

German PV company Gehrlicher Solar and Turkish energy company Merk Solar Enerji – part of the Akfel Group – have agreed to establish a 50:50 joint venture to develop solar plants in Turkey and neighbouring countries.

The new company will be based in Istanbul and will focus on the planning and construction of ground- and roof-mounted solar power plants, as well as the trading of solar systems and components via a local partner network. .

“Our goal is to establish a strong presence in Turkey and its neighbouring countries,” says Murad Baltaci, chief executive of Akfel Group.
