Scotland to link with Masdar for renewables development

Scotland is poised to sign a renewables partnership with Abu-Dhabi-based clean-energy development group Masdar.

The agreement will involve the development of “tangible green energy products" and be the first of its kind between Masdar and an individual nation, claims the Scottish Government.

First Minister Alex Salmond will sign the deal in the Middle East next week, six weeks after he visited Masdar City for talks over possible cooperation.

The Scottish Government gives few details of the arrangement, but says it will centre on university-based renewable energy research.
