US wind tower firms accuse China, Vietnam of unfair trade

A coalition of American wind tower manufacturers has petitioned the US government to impose anti-dumping duties on imports from China and Vietnam, alleging some are being sold here for more than 64% below cost.

The move is the latest salvo in a growing offensive by US-based wind and solar industry component manufacturers against China over alleged trade-distorting policies and practices in clean-energy sectors.

In the run up to November 2012 US national elections, China is under fire for pursuing what politicians claim are mercantilist policies. China is the second-largest US trading partner after Canada.
