Crown Estate awards leases to five Scottish offshore zones

Plans to build wind farms around the Scottish coast have taken a big step forward with the Crown Estate approving five leases for offshore wind zones with the potential to deliver a total of 5GW of power.

Projects off the west coast will be developed by Scottish Power Renewables at Argyll Array, which is located some 5km off the island of Tiree; and by SSE Renewables which is awarded Islay, located some 13km off the west coast of Islay.
