Al Gore says the world should follow lead of Scotland's Salmond

Global climate change campaigner and former US vice-president Al Gore has praised Scotland for the lead it has taken on renewables.

Speaking at the Scottish Low Carbon Investment Conference in Edinburgh, he hailed Scotland as a world leader in renewables, and praised First Minister Alex Salmond’s “inspiring leadership” as his government aims for 100% renewable energy by 2020.

Gore says Scotland has unique opportunities, although it is at an early stage of developing a “globally significant” share of the world’s offshore wind-, wave- and tidal-energy resources.
