Solyndra bosses to plead the Fifth in Congress hearings

Solyndra executives plan to exercise their right not to testify against themselves when congressional hearings into alleged malfeasance at the bankrupt solar manufacturer resume.

Chief executive Brian Harrison and chief financial officer Bill Stover will invoke their Fifth Amendment rights, the company said, ahead of the hearing before the House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations on 23 September.

Solyndra says the executives have told subcommittee members that “due to the ongoing Department of Justice investigation and on the advice of their counsel, they will be unable to provide substantive answers to the subcommittee’s questions”.
