UK launches $10m fund to train future renewables pioneers

A £6.5m ($10.4m) fund for training a new generation of renewable-energy engineering leaders has been unveiled by UK Business Secretary Vince Cable.

The fund is intended to be used by universities and industry to provide training for up to 50 students to pioneer the development of renewable energy technologies.

The engineers will be trained in areas as diverse as designing cost-efficient new wind blades and testing the latest wave-energy technology at academic centres including Edinburgh University.
