Christian Kjaer: Fighting the 'war of arguments' for wind-power

"I guess I should have been a banker, but I couldn’t see myself sitting behind a computer doing financial analysis all day.” Christian Kjaer — chief executive of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA), which is widely admired as the most slick lobbying group in the industry — is musing on an alternative career path.

But sitting in a smart Brussels restaurant near the group’s Rue d’Arlon headquarters, he does not sound as if he has any regrets.

Kjaer studied international finance and economics in Denmark and the US, and began working on a Danish daily newspaper while he was finishing his master’s dissertation on American mutual funds.

Despite having no media experience, he worked with some of the country’s best political journalists on a new supplement at the paper. However, after two years, he was ready to move on.
