Terra-Gen bags $631m for more phases at California's Alta Wind

The giant Alta Wind complex will add to California's existing wind power fleet

Developer Terra-Gen Power has wrapped up $631m of finance to add another 300MW at Alta Wind, its multi-stage 1.55GW wind-power complex in California.

The construction finance is for Alta Wind phases 6 and 8, each of 150MW, at the Alta Wind Energy Centre (AWEC) in Tehachapi.

The news follows an agreement late last month by Google and Citigroup to each put $55m into the Alta Wind 4 sub-project.

The first five Alta projects with a generating capacity of 720MW are already complete and supplying electricity to the grid.
