REpower, EDF-EN sign 954MW Canada turbine deal

Suzlon-owned turbine manufacturer Repower and French renewables giant EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF-EN) have signed a framework agreement for the supply of up to 954MW in turbines for wind projects in Canada.

The contract, which guarantees a mininum purchase of 748MW, constitutes REpower’s biggest ever onshore sale. The agreement is to supply five projects being developed by the Saint-Laurent Energies consortium, which is owned by EDF-EN Canada, RES Canada and Hydroméga Services.

REpower chief executive Per Hornung Pedersen says: “The contract confirms our strategic partnership with our customers EDF EN and RES. This is a giant leap forward for REpower towards our establishment in Canada, and bolsters our intention of further growth in the whole of North America — Canada and the USA."
