GE to push ahead with plans to build turbines in Brazil

US engineering giant GE will push ahead with plans to build wind turbines in Brazil as the South American country gears up for its first wind energy tender in November, according to industry sources.

GE has decided to start making turbines in Brazil, says president Lauro Fiúza of ABEEÓLICA, the Brazilian wind energy association.

“This is highly positive for us,” says Fiúza, after hearing that GE will make the move.

GE would be the third turbine-making company to establish itself in Brazil, which would be a major victory for the industry and country.

The company has previously said that if it went ahead with plans to build turbines in Brazil it would want to use the country as a base to export from as well as supply the Log in to read complete article.
