NextEra subsidiary Boulevard Associates plans to install 150 2MW alternating current photovoltaic arrays on 2,013 acres (8.1sq km) in Maricopa County, the first use of public land for a solar project in Arizona.
It will be built close to existing transmission lines and the developer will pay DOI almost $2m a year in land rental and other fees.
