The extension will add another 39 3.6MW turbines, bringing overall capacity to 593MW from the current 322MW. The initial 140 turbine development was completed in May 2009 , when Scottish Power Renewables also received planning permission for the first extension of 36 turbines. Construction on both extensions will be carried out at the same time, starting in 2010, with completion expected in 2012.
