Administrators Ernst & Young say that Siemens will provide short term funding for the order, and that all 130 employees will return to work, while their pay arrears will be met.

The Campbeltown factory was placed into administration after its parent company, Århus-based Skykon filed for bankruptcy. Skykon had purchased the Machrihanish facility from previous owner Vestas in 2009.

Andrew Davison, joint administrator, said: “We were mindful of the uncertainty facing staff at the Campbeltown facility and are therefore pleased to have concluded this arrangement in such a short timescale.”
