The nation’s Ministry of Finance used the 250bn koruna figure as justification for an attempt to circumvent the standard public tender process the Czech government must use when hiring private lawyers.
Claiming that a looming tsunami of lawsuits from solar developers represents a “threat to the fiscal stability and security” of the country and “could reach unprecedented proportions”, the ministry asked for fast-track recruitment powers to quickly build up its legal team.
