Keppel subsidiary KV Ventus will pay NKr61m ($10.2m) for a 49.9% stake in OWEC, further underscoring the seriousness with which major Asian shipyards and vessel designers are beginning to take the offshore wind industry.

Founded in 2004, OWEC has established itself as Europe’s trailblazing tailor of jacket substructures. It has seen its proprietary quattropod design employed at the demonstration projects Beatrice and Alpha Ventus, and more recently at Vattenfall’s Ormonde and the second phase of C-Power’s Thornton Bank.

While
