intends
to
build
a
20-30MW
wind
farm
on
Sir
Bani
Yas
island
off
the
western
coast
of
Abu
Dhabi,
where
since
2009
a
single
Vestas
turbine
has
been
spinning.
“We
are
evaluating
bids
from
international
companies
who
want
to
help
us
build
the
plant,”
says
Frank
Wouters,
director
of
Masdar’s
project-development
arm.
Though
not
considered
particularly
promising
for
wind
energy,
Wouters
says
the
UAE’s
wind
speeds
are
“moderate
but
still
sufficient”
for
such
a
project.
In
addition,
by
the
end
of
the
year
Masdar
intends
to
sign
off
on
a
construction
package
for
