Pelosse is currently deputy head of staff in the private office of the French minister for ecology, energy, sustainable development and town and country planning. She recently acted as chief French negotiator for the EU’s climate and energy package, which includes its Renewable Energy Directive.
The nomination of Pelosse is viewed by some as a further slap in the face to Germany, which not only lobbied to have Bonn host Irena’s headquarters, but also threw its support behind Danish renewable-energy expert Hans Jørgen Koch to head the new group.
