Accident halts construction of 100MW Texas biomass plant

Two workers for Fagen, a company building a 100MW biomass power plant for Southern Power in East Texas, were seriously injured Tuesday in an accident involving a 440-volt electrical panel.

They were transferred from the plant site in Sacul to a hospital in nearby Nacogdoches and then to the burns unit at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. Fagen, based in Minnesota, did not release names of the injured workers and their condition is not clear.

Fagen officials did not immediately respond to Recharge for comment on the accident or the investigation underway. It was not known how long the plant site will remain closed or if this would affect the construction timetable. The plant will be one of the largest for…
