Siemens cements Shanghai Electric partnership

Siemens and Shanghai Electric have completed the 50MW Guangrao onshore wind farm 400km south of Beijing – the first project to emerge from a co-operation deal between the two.

Guangrao consists of 20 SWT-2.5-108 turbines. The project is in Guangrao county, near Dongying city on the northern coast of Shandong province

It is the first project built by two joint-ventures set up by the German and Chinese companies, called Siemens Wind Turbines (Shanghai) Co and Shanghai Electric Wind Energy Co.

Shanghai Electric has a 51% stake in the entities, with the German industrial giant owning the rest.

Both joint ventures “are now in full operation” since the beginning of this year, Siemens said, after signing a deal launching their cooperation in late 2011.
