China's high court to hear AMSC copyright infringement appeal

AMSC says that the Supreme People’s Court has agreed to hear its appeal of a lower court decision dismissing a civil case in Hainan against former top customer Sinovel and related companies for alleged software copyright infringement.

The case is one of four legal actions that AMSC , based in Massachusetts, has filed in China over allegations that Sinovel stole wind turbine control software source code for low-voltage ride through (LVRT) technology. It also accuses the Chinese turbine manufacturer of violating sales contracts. AMSC is seeking more than $1.2bn for contracted shipments and damages, and that Sinovel and two other companies cease using its allegedly pirated technology.
