GCL-Poly links with Goldpoly for 300MW China wafer plant

GCL-Poly is to build a 300MW wafer plant with solar cell manufacturer Goldpoly New Energy Holdings.

The plant will be built in Quanzhou in China’s southeastern Fujian province, across the sea from Taiwan.

The investment will allow GCL-Poly to tap the Taiwanese market and other “strategically important” emerging markets in Southeast Asia, says the firm’s president Shu Hua.

Hong Kong-based GCL-Poly is China’s largest producer of polysilicon, the raw material used in PV solar cells.
