MRP Chile go-ahead for 235MW Sarco

Ireland-based Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) has received environmental approval from the Chilean government for its 235MW Sarco wind project.

Sarco is slated to use 94 2.5MW turbines at its site in the Atacama region, said a statement on the Chilean government’s website.

It will connect to the grid via a 56km export cable.

Commissioning of the wind farm is due in 2016.

Chile is a major target market for MRP, which cites a 2.7GW pipeline in the country spanning wind and solar projects.
