Horizon seeks to expand Top Crop wind project by 300.6MW

Horizon has applied for two additional phases of its Top Crop wind project

Horizon Wind Energy has filed applications for two additional phases of its Top Crop wind project in Illinois totalling 300.6 megawatts, the Houston-based company tells Recharge.

The 102MW Top Crop Phase I started commercial operation in October last year. Completion of the 198MW phase II is expected in October.

All four project phases will be located in Grundy, LaSalle and Livingston counties in north-central Illinois.

Horizon, a subsidiary of EDP Renovaveis in Madrid, Spain, has three other wind farms in commercial operation in Illinois - Twin Groves I and II, both 198MW and Rail Splitter, with the same capacity.
