Canada's TransAlta raises $200m of 6.45% senior notes

TransAlta Corporation, a leading wind power developer and generator in Canada, announced Tuesday that it has priced an offering of $200m of 6.45% senior notes due in 2014.

The senior notes were priced at 99.823% for yield to maturity of 6.49%. The notes have been rated BBB (stable) by Dominion Bond Rating Service and Standard & Poor’s Rating Services.

Net proceeds from the offering will be used for debt repayment, financing of TransAlta’s long-term investment plan and for general corporate purposes.

CIBC World Markets and Scotia Capital acted as joint lead agents and book-runners for the offering.

Transalta owns and operates 285MW of wind power generation in Alberta province, with three other wind farms totaling 205MW under development there.
