Enbridge $200m for Keechi Wind
Canadian energy group Enbridge said it will spend about $200m on the 110MW Keechi Wind Project in Texas.
Enbridge has reached a deal with developer RES Americas, which is building the wind farm in Jack County and in November struck a 20-year PPA to sell all the project’s output to software giant Microsoft.
Enbridge said Vestas of Denmark will supply 55 2MW wind turbines to the project and provide O&M services at the plant for five years.
Vestas has previously said it will not comment on its status at Keechi until a firm order is signed.
Construction at Keechi began last month and the wind farm is due to be operational in the first quarter of 2015.
Calgary-based Enbridge is a major player in the energy and power transport sector, and has also emerged as a significant renewables investor over the past few years.
The company said Keechi brings the total generating capacity of clean-power projects in which Enbridge has interests to more than 1.8GW.
