The company will produce the towers in its Abilene, Texas facility with delivery scheduled for the second half of this year.

"We've seen a significant improvement in activity and we are quoting orders for 2014 delivery as the wind energy industry recovers from the downturn at the end of 2012," says Broadwind chief executive Peter Duprey.

He says the company has won $127m in tower orders since last October and the Abilene plant is operating near capacity for this year.
