The Korean utility will buy the Alamosa project from Cogentrix Energy Power Management, a developer that US private equity firm Carlyle bought from Goldman Sachs in late 2012.

Kepco financed the deal via an investment vehicle that was set up in cooperation with a number of Korean pension funds.

Cogentrix, which is based in North Carolina, completed the Alamosa project — one of the world’s largest CPV plants — in 2012.
