UK utility SSE has issued a €600m ($713m) green bond – the largest ever issued by a UK company - to provide capital to refinance its portfolio of onshore wind farms.

According to SSE there was a “significant demand” for this eight-year, 0.875% bond, which allowed it to price the bond at the “tighter end” of its guidance.

The utility said the meaningful participation of socially responsible investors has demonstrated that there is a material appetite for financial products aligned with the mitigation of environmental concerns.
