As the US dips a toe in the offshore wind market, it can learn a lot from an old friend on the other side of the pond.

The UK has been building an offshore market for years. It has the right technology and policies — not to mention 40% of Europe’s offshore resource. Britain has as much offshore wind installed as the rest of the world combined (nearly 800 turbines at 18 projects) and is growing fast.

It can also draw on the experience of North Sea oil and gas companies in working in deep, tumultuous waters to create technology that can withstand harsh conditions.
