Chesf to build wind-power transmission lines and substations

Eletrobras subsidiary Chesf has won the right to build three wind-power transmission lines and substations in a Brazilian federal tender. The substations will be built in the states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará and Paraíba to serve wind farms contracted in the 2010 tenders.

A total of 441km of lines will be built, allowing 1.2GW of wind power to be connected to the grid. Some R$750m ($473m) will be invested in the lines and substations, which are expected to come on line by September 2013.
