Giants awakening to PV

The trend of manufacturing giants from other industries piling into the PV sector will accelerate in coming years, providing the sector with inflows of cash and critical industrial know-how, predicts York zu Putlitz, chief executive of German module maker Aleo.



It is an unsurprising perspective in light of the fact that Aleo is majority-owned by Bosch, the German industrial giant and one of the world's largest suppliers to the automotive sector.

Bosch bought a majority stake in Aleo in 2009 and has steadily upped its ownership to 85%.

Zu Putlitz, whose career spans a host of industries and senior titles, joined Bosch in 1996, and was put in charge of Aleo in March last year after what amounted to a board takeover.
