Schott tips huge upheaval in PV

It did not happen during the financial crisis, and it has not happened yet - despite expectations - but the PV sector will be rocked by consolidation and bankruptcies in the next year and a half, according to Schott Solar.



"The number of manufacturers you see today - beyond 500 - is totally unsustainable," spokesman Lars Waldemann tells Recharge.

"That number will be reduced to something like 200, and the big shake-out will happen in the next 18 months."

Much of the upheaval will occur in China, he predicts.
