Siemens lands 105MW Bison 2 turbine deal

FORT WORTH: Siemens Energy has won an order from utility Minnesota Power for 35 of its 3MW SWT-3.0-101 direct-drive turbines for the Bison 2 project in North Dakota.. The machines will be among the largest in use for onshore wind in North America. Financial terms were not released, but the award came after a competitive bidding process.

The deal includes transport, installation and commissioning of the 35 turbines, as well as service and maintenance. Deliveries will start in August next year, and commissioning of the $157m project is due before 2013.
